Enable Quick Grid Protected Mode

Adding Software Controls and Metrics to Quick Grids

Note: Users with the user roles listed to the right must also have the Template Access user role.

To create a new quick grid or to copy an existing grid, see Creating Quick Grids.

To add software controls and metrics to a quick grid:

From the System menu, select Security & Groups > Quick Grids.
Click the name of the quick grid to open it for editing.
Click the Drag to Design tab in the left panel to display the data source options.
Indicate the data type to populate the grid cell by selecting either Metric or Metadata in the Source Type field.
If you selected Metric as the Source Type, select the appropriate metric category.

Metrics appear in the list if the user has "Can Edit" access to the metric, the metric belongs to a child access group of the quick grid, or the metric is already attached to the quick grid.

To add metrics and metadata to the grid, do any of the following.

Drag and Drop - Drag a metric or metadata from the list in the left panel and drop it into a grid cell. A control defaults based on the metric and metadata type. More...

Type Ahead - Type metric and metadata field codes directly into the grid cell. A control defaults based on the metric or metadata. If the fast-entry input does not match a valid metadata or metric field code, the control defaults to formatted text. For a list of valid field codes, see Accolade Field Codes Reference.
Select a Control - Select a control type in the Properties tab on the right panel from the Type field. Data type details populate and vary based on the selected control type.

Navigate to the Properties tab in the right panel and enter the following information to further define or modify the data or control in the selected cell. Only certain fields populate based on the control type selected.

For all control types, you must enter a unique system name, up to 64 characters long, which identifies the cell across all grids in the Quick Grid editor.

Additionally, you can change the control for the selected cell from the Type field which includes both the supported and unsupported controls associated with the metric or metadata selected.

Note: Use custom number formats to specify how a number metric displays in an Accolade field code in quick grid cells. Custom number formats only display for Text Box (number) controls.

Button

Field	Description

Checkbox

Field	Description
Source Type	Indicate the data type to populate the grid cell by selecting either Metric or Metadata in the field.
Metric	If you selected metric as the source type, click to search for the appropriate metric. To narrow the list, search by the metric category, name, or data type. Drag the metric name to any grid cell to add it to the quick grid. String metrics are the only valid metric data types to render a checkbox control.
Metadata	If you selected metadata as the source type, select the metadata type from the Metadata drop-down list. Important! All metadata types in the system display as options to select regardless of if they are supported by the control type or not. If you select a metadata type that is not supported by the control type in the Type field, a default control type will populate according to the metadata type selected.
Default Value	Enter free-form text or an Accolade field code, or leave it blank. A value displays before a selection is made for specific controls.

Checkbox Group

Enter the word "True" (without quotes) if you want the check box to be selected by default on first appearance. If there is no default value, or different text, the check box is clear by default.
Sort	Select an option to apply an ascending or descending order sort to appropriate controls.
Tooltip	Enter a description of the control or brief instructions for using the control. The tooltip text is available for anyone interacting with the grid and inputting controls or data. In the Tooltip Alignment field, select an option to define where the tooltip displays within the cell.
Columns	Enter the number of columns that display as options for selection.
Read Only	Select this check box to make the control un-editable. If selected for every control in the second row of a matrix grid, the entire grid is read only, and displays without the options to add or delete rows.

List Source	Enter list options that display for list control types.
Empty Item Text	Enter text that displays when there is no value selected for a drop-down control. The drop-down box control allows users to select an empty or null value. Enter text that displays for the empty value such as "None."
Control Width	Enter the size of the control in pixels.
Sort	Select an option to apply an ascending or descending order sort to appropriate controls.
Tooltip	Enter a description of the control or brief instructions for using the control. The tooltip text is available for anyone interacting with the grid and inputting controls or data. In the Tooltip Alignment field, select an option to define where the tooltip displays within the cell.

Image

Field	Description
Content	Select a project or template image previously uploaded, that displays in the field. Project Image - Select project thumbnail or project main images to display the image that is relative to the project in the grid cell. Template Image - Select an image previously uploaded to the Template Library that displays in the field or choose to upload a new image by selecting Add New > Choose Image > Open > Upload File. To display as an image within Accolade, an image file must be one of the following file types: .bmp, .dib, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, jfif, or .png.
Tooltip	Enter a description of the control or brief instructions for using the control. The tooltip text is available for anyone interacting with the grid and inputting controls or data. In the Tooltip Alignment field, select an option to define where the tooltip displays within the cell.
Link To	Select to have a linked URL, project page, or layout launch upon click in a separate browser tab. More... For URL links, enter the URL in the field, including the protocol. For example, http://, ftp://, mailto://, or another valid protocol. You can also append Accolade field codes within the hyperlink. For example, a URL with a project ID field code might look like this: /Planning/PlanningBoard/Index/14?projectID={MD:sysProjectID}. The hyperlink captures the project's ID anywhere the quick grid displays in the application in this example. For project page links and layouts, indicate the specific project page or layout in the Destination field. For the stages and gates project pages, enter a numeric value of the stage or gate relative to the project in the Index field. For example, an index of 2 launches the second stage or gate upon click. If the indexes entered exceed the number of stages and gates for the project or the index field is blank, the link launches the current project stage or gate.
Open in New Tab	Check this box to have the linked URL, project page, or layout launch in a new browser tab.

Label

Inline Editing	Select to allow users to enter text inline with the text entry field. If deselected, a dialog box displays when users enter text into the field, and they are prompted to click OK when leaving the cell.
Required	Select this check box if cell text input is required for the grid to save.

Text (Formatted)

Tooltip	Enter a description of the control or brief instructions for using the control. The tooltip text is available for anyone interacting with the grid and inputting controls or data. In the Tooltip Alignment field, select an option to define where the tooltip displays within the cell.
Size	Enter the character limit allowed in the control.
Max Length	Enter the character limit allowed in the control.
Read Only	Select this check box to make the control un-editable. If selected for every control in the second row of a matrix grid, the entire grid is read only, and displays without the options to add or delete rows.
Required	Select this check box if cell text input is required for the grid to save.

User Selector

Field	Description
Source Type	Indicate the data type to populate the grid cell by selecting either Metric or Metadata in the field.
Metric	If you selected metric as the source type, click to search for the appropriate metric. To narrow the list, search by the metric category, name, or data type. Drag the metric name to any grid cell to add it to the quick grid.
Metadata	If you selected metadata as the source type, select the metadata type from the Metadata drop-down list. Important! All metadata types in the system display as options to select regardless of if they are supported by the control type or not. If you select a metadata type that is not supported by the control type in the Type field, a default control type will populate according to the metadata type selected.
Default Value	Enter free-form text or an Accolade field code, or leave it blank. A value displays before a selection is made for specific controls.

User Roles	Select to narrow the control options to specific user roles. For example, if you select Executive, only users with this user role populate in the control for selection.

Required	Select this check box if cell text input is required for the grid to save.

Note: Calculated metrics display as read-only within a quick grid. You cannot add matrix metrics to non-matrix grids and the number format for matrix metrics is not supported in Microsoft 365 applications.

Click Save in the lower right corner of the page to save changes, Save and Close to save the configuration and close the editor, or Cancel to close the editor without saving changes.

To add a new metric while designing a new quick grid:

Click New Metric located at the bottom of the Drag to Design tab.
Fill in the necessary information to create a new metric. Click in the right corner of the dialog to learn more about Creating Metrics.
Click Create to add the new metric to the system. The new metric displays in the list of metrics available to add to the grid.
Reference the table in Step 6 above to add the new metric to a quick grid.
Click Save in the lower right corner of the page to save changes, Save and Close to save the configuration and close the editor, or Cancel to close the editor without saving changes.

Notes:

To delete cell contents, click the cell and click in the drop-down menu or click the cell and press Delete.
Metrics added to a quick grid do not need to be individually associated with the grid's model. They are automatically added to the model when the Process Designer adds the grid to a deliverable or activity within the model.
Controls within quick grids must have unique control system names when using multiple quick grids and JavaScript functions. If a quick grid contains duplicate control system names, the JavaScript function calls one at random and may not operate as intended.
The Enable Quick Grids Protected Mode parameter turns on and off grid protection. To modify a protected grid, an Administrator must set the parameter to 0.
